In the mining town of Personville, where the law and order, has been the undisputed province of Old Elihu Willison. His iron grip is beginning to wane under the hard driving pressure of a group of outlaws- the same “bandits” that Willison had previously been hired to quell the uprising of certain irate miners.
Donald Willison summons a private agent from “Continental investigators” of San Francisco, to Personville. Before the two can meet, Donald is brutally murdered. The agent decides to stay on and give Personville a once over for his own satisfaction. It doesn’t take him long to discover the corruption and the subtle intrigues behind the peaceful façade of the town.
The agent’s curiosity begins to bother some of town’s people, and he’s threatened more than once, but that only serves to stimulate his interest and determination to discover more. He devises a clever scheme, whereby those who hold the town under their thumb begin to doubt each other.
A series of interesting situations arise, each one an unexpected shock for the viewer: seething hate and violence build up until the vultures of Personville do themselves in, one by one.
The last few survivors, realizing they’ve been duped, try leading the agent into an ambush. What ensues, is a spectacular duel that ties up the loose ends in the mining town of Personville.
